Litton Das will miss the upcoming three-match 20-over AFG vs BAN 2025 series with a Grade 1 strain he sustained on the left abdominal muscle during Asia Cup 2025. Wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali is set to lead the team in Litton’s absence.
Bangladesh’s team physiotherapist Bayjedul Islam Khan confirmed the development. According to him, Litton’s rehabilitation will be closely tracked. However, he did not provide any update on when Litton will be fully fit and return to action.
“He (Litton) had missed the last two matches of the Asia Cup with a side strain. An MRI scan has revealed a Grade 1 strain on the left abdominal muscle. He is undergoing recovery and will not be available for the T20 series. The medical team will continue to manage his rehab and monitor his progress,” Bayjedul was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Coming to the squad news, 32-year-old batting all-rounder Soumya Sarkar is the only fresh addition to the unit that featured in the Asia Cup. The three-match series is scheduled to commence on Thursday, October 2. All matches will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Bangladesh’s 16-member squad for Afghanistan series: Jaker Ali (c), Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Saif Hassan, Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Nurul Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Mohammad Saifuddin, Soumya Sarkar
Speaking of Bangladesh‘s recent Asia Cup campaign, they finished second in Group B by winning two out three matches. They started off the Super Four phase with a morale-boosting triumph against Sri Lanka. However, losses in consecutive matches meant that the Tigers did not get a chance to feature in the summit clash. Saif Hassan (178 runs in four matches at a strike rate of 128.05) and Mustafizur Rahman (9 wickets in six matches at an economy rate of 7.43) impressed quite a lot.
