Indian top-order batter Yashasvi Jaiswal recently expressed confidence that opportunities will come his way when questioned on his sentiments regarding his Asia Cup 2025 snub. Jaiswal is amongst the five standby players for India for the continental event.

Jaiswal humbly left it on the selection committee for doing their job and brought in the concept of team combination to explain his point.

“It’s all in the selectors’ hands. They look at it from a team combination point of view. I’ll keep doing my thing and I know my time will come. Till then, I’ll keep working on myself, developing myself,” stated Jaiswal in an interaction with Siddhaarth Aalambayan on Mashable India.

Jaiswal last represented India in their five-match series against England in England. He concluded with 411 runs in five matches (10 innings) at an average of 41.10 with two fifties and as many hundreds to his name. India eventually ended up drawing the series 2-2. Despite impressive outings in both Test cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL), the dynamic opening batter is yet to cement a spot in the 20-over format.

The Men in Blue have favoured the likes of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson for the opening role ever since Gautam Gambhir took over as India’s head coach. Shubman Gill has also been presented with opportunities up top, much like how it has been during the ongoing tournament. All of this has come in the form of Jaiswal getting neglected from the T20I XI.

Speaking of Jaiswal’s record in T20Is, he has registered 723 runs in 23 matches while striking at 164.31. He has scored 82 fours and 38 sixes. Jaiswal has scored five fifties and a century in the format. He recently represented West Zone in their Duleep Trophy clash against Central Zone, scoring 4 and 64 in his team’s first two innings, respectively.
