The Dubai Police have launched a major security action plan ahead of the Asia Cup, as thousands of cricket fans are set to arrive on the city for the UAE’s clash with tournament favourites India on Wednesday, September 10. The authorities confirmed that dedicated patrols will be deployed around the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai Sports City, which is hosting several high-profile fixtures during the competition.

The eight-team tournament, showcasing the top cricketing nations across Asia, began on Tuesday, September 9, and will culminate with the final in Dubai on September 28. Matches are also scheduled in Abu Dhabi, while the eagerly awaited showdown between India and Pakistan will take place in Dubai on Sunday, September 14.

At a press conference, Maj Gen Saif Al Mazrouei, assistant commander in chief for operations, confirmed that the police force has been working closely with organisers to ensure the smooth running of the event. He noted that a comprehensive security plan has been finalised, covering the stadium, surrounding areas, and traffic management to facilitate access. He conceded that their goal is to guarantee a safe and enjoyable experience for all spectators.

Large crowds and heavy traffic is expected for the UAE-India encounter and the authorities have urged the public to allow extra time for their journey and to make use of public transport wherever possible, as parking near the venue will be limited.

Although Dubai Sports City is not directly served by the Metro, fans can travel on the Red Line to Dubai Internet City station, where the F34 bus connects to Sports City. The bus ride takes around 20 minutes, followed by a short seven-minute walk to the stadium. With heightened security and transport measures in place, officials remain confident that the Asia Cup will be staged successfully.
