Ravi Bishnoi has been India’s answer to the new age leg-spinners. Bishnoi hails from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and was part of the Indian U19 team that played in the 2020 Youth World Cup. He made his IPL debut in 2020 for Punjab Kings and after taking 24 wickets in two seasons, he moved to Lucknow Super Giants.
He has been their first-pick spinner and has 48 wickets for them in four seasons. His India T20I debut came in 2022 against the West Indies in Kolkata. He has played 42 games thus far, taking 61 wickets at an economy of 7.35.
Here are the top 3 bowling performances of Ravi Bishnoi in T20Is:
3. 3/26 vs Sri Lanka, Pallekele, 2024
Bishnoi came good for India in the second T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka in Pallekele. Sri Lanka were asked to bat first, and they posted 161/9 in 20 overs, with Kusal Perera making 53 and Pathum Nissanka making 32. Ravi Bishnoi starred for India with 3/26.
His wickets included Nissanka, Dasun Shanaka, and Wanindu Hasaranga. India chased the total down with ease as it was reduced to 78 from eight overs due to rain, and Bishnoi was named the Player of the Match.
2. 4/16 vs West Indies, Florida, 2022
The fifth and final T20I between West Indies and India in Florida in August 2022 saw another glimpse of Bishnoi’s talent. India opted to bat first and posted 188/7, with Shreyas Iyer making 64, Deepak Hooda 38, and Hardik Pandya 28.
Shimron Hetmyer threatened to take the game away with a brilliant 56, but then Bishnoi’s introduction ended West Indies’ hopes. He picked the wickets of Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Keemo Paul, and Obed McCoy to rout the West Indies for 100 and win India the game for India by 88 runs. Bishnoi finished with 4/16 in 2.4 overs, ensuring India registered a huge win.
1. 4/13 vs Zimbabwe, Harare, 2024
India toured Zimbabwe in 2024 under Shubman Gill and started the five-T20I series in Harare. Zimbabwe were asked to bat first by India, and they barely reached 115/9 in 20 overs as Dion Myers made 23 while Clive Madande got 29*. For India, Bishnoi proved to be the trump card, as he ran through the Zimbabwe batting order with 4/13 in four overs. It was a great performance by Bishnoi as he showed how to bowl on a slow and low pitch.
