The Dr HD Kanga League is a cricket tournament in Mumbai, which has featured many legendary cricketers over the years. Kanga Cricket League is named after Hormasji Kanga, who played 43 first-class matches as an all-rounder, and was also picked for the Indian team. He was the first Indian batter to score a double century in first-class cricket.

The league started in 1948, with the main goal being to help batters cope better with wet conditions. This is because the tournament is played in monsoon months across Mumbai’s famous maidans. The damp and unpredictable conditions make run-scoring difficult.

Stalwarts like Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Sandeep Patil, Zaheer Khan, and Dilip Vengsarkar have played in the league over the years. Meanwhile, Aditya Tare is the only batter to have scored a double century. He achieved the feat while playing for Victory Cricket Club against Fort Vijay Cricket Club in 2013. Furthermore, Neil Narvekar has the fastest century in the tournament, getting to the landmark off just 29 balls, while playing for Parkophene Cricketers against Khar Gymkhana.
