Freshly-appointed power-hitting coach Julian Wood recently introduced the ProVelocity Bat to develop Bangladesh men’s and women’s cricketers’ power-hitting skills.
The pictures that have been circulating on social media show the rod-like equipment in the coach’s hand It iit is understood that the ProVelocity Bat nurtures hand-eye coordination while keeping an increased focus on sequencing and mechanics.
If a double click is heard, it means that they followed proper swing mechanics and adequate bat speed to push past the resistance which would help in getting the barrel to make its way to the end of the bat.

Bangladesh women’s team batting coach Nasiruddin Faruque commented on the novel concept and felt it would come good for players looking to improve their range-hitting prowess.
“If the batters don’t have high bat speed or have flaws in their mechanics, they won’t be able to generate enough power to get the barrel to slide all the way down the shaft and as a result will only get a single click. I think it’s a good method. The concept is the same, but fundamentally, we haven’t done this before – we’ve been throwing it down, hitting with a drop shot, or hitting on a machine. I don’t know what others think, but this is new – an innovative idea,” stated Faruque, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
“I was asking Wood about this – we in the subcontinent prefer golf hitting more than baseball hitting. On the pitches we play in Mirpur, wrist work is crucial. I gave the example of Indian bowlers – they just lift the ball within the wrist’s range. But if you go to bouncy tracks, your baseball-style horizontal bat swing comes into play. I was asking this question, and he agreed,” added Faruque.
Bangladesh and Bangladesh Women’s next big assignments are the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup, respectively. Both the tournaments will commence in September.
