The Hundred Men’s 2025: Predicting Manchester Originals XI for match 9

The Manchester Originals and London Spirit will face off in match 9 of the ongoing The Hundred Men’s 2025 competition at the Old Trafford ground in Manchester on August 11.

Manchester Originals are not having the best of the tournament, having lost both of their games till now. Originals played their first match against Southern Brave and lost by one wicket with one ball to spare in a close finish. In their second match, the Oval Invincibles completely annihilated them with a nine-wicket victory at the Oval.

Here is the predicted Manchester Originals XI for match 9 of The Hundred Men’s 2025:

Top Order: Phil Salt (C), Matty Hurst, Jos Buttler (WK)

Top Order

The batting has been an issue for the Manchester Originals despite Phil Salt leading from the front. He has 101 runs in the two outings with the highest score of 60 runs and a strike rate of 138.35. He has not had much support with opening partner Matty Hurst scoring just two runs in two games. Even the T20 great Jos Buttler has been quiet with 22 runs in the two matches thus far.

Middle Order: Mark Chapman, Heinrich Klaasen, George Garton

Mark Chapman has been the second-best batter for Originals with 50 runs and a best of 28 in the two matches. Heinrich Klaasen has disappointed a little, scoring 21 runs in two games at a strike rate of 80.76. He has found it tough to get going on some spicy pitches. George Garton has played only one game and has not done anything of note yet.

Lower Order: Lewis Gregory, Scott Currie

Scott Currie has been the best bowler with four scalps to his name with a best of 4/28. Lewis Gregory has also done well with the ball, taking two wickets in two games. There is much more expected from the two, as Currie has also contributed 21 runs, while Gregory has scored 20 runs as well.

Bowlers: Noor Ahmad, Sonny Baker, James Anderson

Noor Ahmad has picked two wickets with an economy of 9.08. Sonny Baker has two wickets as well, while James Anderson is yet to take a wicket in the two matches he has played. The bowling and batting need to click together if Manchester wants to advance in the league.
