The Hundred Women’s 2025: Predicting Oval Invincibles XI for match 1

Oval Invincibles Women will take on the London Spirit Women in the first match of The Hundred Women’s 2025 on Tuesday, August 5, at Lord’s. Oval Invincibles Women has been the most successful team in the history of the league. They won the first two editions of the tournament. Last season, they lost the Eliminator against the London Spirit, which marked their exit from the tournament. Lauren Winfield-Hill will lead the side this season. Meg Lanning, Marizanne Kapp, and Amanda-Jade Wellington are the three overseas players in the squad.

The experienced trio of Meg Lanning, Lauren Winfield-Hill, and Alice Capsey could form the top order for the Oval Invincibles in this match. Capsey was the leading run-scorer for the team last season and scored 222 runs in nine games. Lanning and Winfield-Hill made 170 runs and 135 runs, respectively, in the last season.

Middle Order:

Paige Scholfield

Paige Scholfield and Jo Gardner could be a part of the middle order for the team. Scholfield amassed 190 runs in eight innings last season at a strike rate of 137.68 while Gardner has 101 runs in 14 innings in the tournament so far.

Lower Middle Order:

Marizanne Kapp

Marizanne Kapp, Phoebe Franklin and Amanda-Jade Wellington are likely to take care of the lower middle order duties. Kapp is the highest run-scorer for the Oval Invincibles in the tournament, having scored 630 runs in 25 games at a strike rate of 129.62. She has also taken the most number of wickets for the franchise with 37 wickets at an average of 12.02. Franklin recently played for Surrey in the Women’s T20 Blast. In 13 games, she took 10 wickets at an average of 22.20 and made 126 runs at a strike rate of 138.46. On the other hand, Amanda-Jade picked 10 wickets in nine games at an average of 19 last season.

Bowlers: Sophia

Sophia Smale, Ryana Macdonald-Gay, and Tash Farrant are likely to be the three bowlers in the playing 11. Smale was the third-highest wicket-taker for the Oval Invincibles last season while Macdonald-Gay picked eight wickets. Farrant last played in a tournament in 2021. She took eight wickets in the recently concluded in five games at an average of 16.62 in the Women’s T20 Blast.
