WCL 2025: India's semi-final clash against Pakistan called off, Who moves to the final? Organisers reveal

India Champions versus Pakistan Champions clash in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 has been called off for the second time in a row. They were set to lock horns in semi-final 1 at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on Thursday, July 31. However, that encounter will not happen.

The first encounter in the league stage between India and Pakistan was scheduled to be held on July 20. However, several Indian players decided to boycott the clash due to the political tension between the two countries. The match was called off, and both teams were given one point.

However, the organisers confirmed on the eve of semi-final 1 that Pakistan will go through after India decided not to take part in the knockout fixture. While they understood India’s stance, they also respected Pakistan’s willingness to compete.

“At WCL, we have always believed in the power of sport to inspire and bring about positive change in the world. However, public sentiment must always be respected after all, everything we do is for our audience. We respect the India Champions’ decision to withdraw from the semi-finals, and we equally respect the Pakistan Champions’ readiness to compete,” the organisers clarified in an official statement.

India had a tough time in the tournament, as they registered just one point from their first four matches. In their final encounter, India had to chase down a 145-run target in 14.1 overs against the West Indies to make it to the semi-final. They did so after stellar contributions from Stuart Binny, Yuvraj Singh, and Yusuf Pathan. However, this turned out to be their final appearance in the tournament’s second edition.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Champions have been an unstoppable force yet to meet an immovable object thus far. They finished at the top of the points table, winning four games out of five. In the final, the Mohammad Hafeez-led side will meet the winner of the semi-final 2 clash between South Africa and Australia.
