The left-arm spin of Hedley Verity struck mayhem in Australia’s second innings as he ended up with a 15-wicket haul in the game. He bettered the seven-wicket display in the first innings by completely running through the visitors’ batting lineup to script a massive win by an innings and 38 runs. The figures registered by Verity remain the best by a spinner at Lord’s till date.
2) Glenn McGrath – 8/38 in 20.3 overs vs England (1997)

Glenn McGrath’s marathon effort meant that England were bundled out for 77 in 42.3 overs in the 1997 Lord’s Test. The veteran seamer took only an over’s break between two wonderful spells to end up dismantling the batting order completely. Despite the match ending in a draw and McGrath claiming just one wicket in England’s second innings, he was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match award.
1) Ian Botham – 8/34 in 20.5 overs vs Pakistan (1978)

After going wicketless in Pakistan’s first innings, Ian Botham picked eight of the opposition’s wickets while they were following on. Apart from one of the opening batters and the player coming in at No. 3, all the others fell to the brilliant bowling from Botham. He was awarded the Player of the Match for his 108-run ton and the eight-fer.
