TSK vs LAKR (15th Match) – Highlights
Stars sparkled above, but it was TSK and LAKR who lit the real fireworks in a Texas-sized thriller at Grand Prairie. What began as a high-octane encounter ended in a commanding 52-run win for TSK, who outclassed LAKR in all three departments of the game.
Texas Super Kings rode a Ranjane-Ferreira storm to a bold 196, leaving bowlers searching for answers and shade. After losing Faf du Plessis early to a sharp catch by Saif Badar off van Schalkwyk, and seeing Marcus Stoinis depart for a golden duck, Texas found themselves in a tricky situation. However, the dependable Smit Patel (38 off 33) held the innings together before handing the reins to Ranjane and Ferreira.
Ranjane’s 70 off 45 was less of a cameo and more of a coup, hijacking the match with sheer shot-making genius. His powerful strokes and clever placement put LAKR’s bowling under pressure. Just when LAKR hoped for a breather, in walked Donovan Ferreira, who unleashed a whirlwind 43 off just 21 balls. He smacked four boundaries and three sixes at a blistering strike rate of 204.76 before being run out. The duo’s stand turned the tide and took Texas close to the 200 mark.
Van Schalkwyk and Russell struck with venom, then soothed the sting—two wicket-takers moonlighting as run donors. Ali Khan, despite a solitary wicket, was also expensive, while the usually reliable Narine went wicketless.
Chasing a tall target of 197, LAKR never truly got going. Akeal Hosein and Zia-ul-Haq were spot-on with the new ball, taking out Alex Hales and Nitish Kumar in the second over. Unmukt Chand (30 off 30) tried to anchor the innings, but a lack of support from the top order saw pressure mount. Saif Badar, Sherfane Rutherford, and Rovman Powell all got starts but couldn’t convert them into impactful innings.
Noor Ahmad’s clever spin bagged two crucial wickets, including Rutherford and the dangerous Andre Russell, who fell for just 2. Zia-ul-Haq and Stoinis also chipped in with a wicket each, while Ferreira capped off his stellar all-round show by dismissing Chand and finishing with 1 for 5 in his only over.
Jason Holder’s unbeaten 26 and van Schalkwyk’s cameo came too late to threaten the target. LAKR ended at 144 for 7, well short of the mark, handing TSK a resounding win. Ferreira was rightly named Player of the Match for his explosive batting and handy bowling.
With this victory, the Texas Super Kings continue to assert their dominance in the tournament, climbing to second place on the table, while LAKR’s inconsistency remains a concern as they linger in the lower half.
