The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) cricketer Swastik Chikara displayed his admiration for senior player Virat Kohli after their team’s victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), which helped secure a spot in the top two of the points table.

The Ghaziabad-born cricketer was signed for INR 30 lakh in the auction, but is yet to make his debut. But, Chikara has often spoken about how much he has learned from Kohli’s discipline, and referring to the former Indian skipper as his elder brother. He has come into the limelight this season, with RCB’s social media handles frequently showcasing his admiration for Kohli.

After the win over LSG, Chikara took a selfie with Kohli in the dressing room. The RCB social media team also shared a video in which Kohli funnily says, “Dimaag khaata rehta hai hamesha” (he keeps annoying me). In response, Chikara showed the selfie to Kohli and without hesitation said, ‘Bade bhai hai hamara. Jab mann kare, tab photo le dete hain’ (He’s my elder brother. Let me click a picture with him whenever I want).

The RCB opener has been in sensational form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 while scoring eight half-centuries and smashing 602 runs so far. He is in the race for the Orange Cap and currently holding the fifth spot on the leaderboard.

Speaking about the match, LSG posted a massive total of 227 on the board, with Rishabh Pant scoring an unbeaten 118 runs off just 61 balls. However, RCB chased down the target in just 18.4 overs courtesy a brilliant knock by skipper Jitesh Sharma, who remained unbeaten on 85 off 33. Kohli also made a valuable contribution with 54 off 30 balls, while Mayank Agarwal chipped in with an unbeaten 41 off 23 deliveries.

After the win, RCB moved to second place in the points table. They will now face Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 29 at Mullanpur in Qualifier 1. The Eliminator will be played between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 30.
