The United Arab Emirates scripted history by registering a narrow two-wicket win over Bangladesh in the second T20I, chasing down a huge 206-run target with just one ball to spare, making it UAE’s first-ever T20I victory against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh, put in to bat, got off to a flying start, thanks to Tanzid Hasan’s 59 off 33 balls, who smashed eight fours and three sixes. He, along with skipper Litton Das (40 off 32), took the Tigers to 90 runs in just 9 overs. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals after the strong start, the visitors made a strong finish, courtesy of Towhid Hridoy (45 off 24), to post 205 for 5 in their 20 overs. Muhammad Jawadullah was once again the pick of the UAE bowlers, picking 3 for 45, while Saghir Khan also chipped in with two wickets.

In reply, UAE’s skipper Muhammad Waseem anchored the chase with an 82 off just 42 deliveries. His innings was laced with nine boundaries and five sixes. Waseem and Muhammad Zohaib (38) stitched together a 107-run opening partnership and put the hosts in the driving seat.

However, when Waseem fell in the 15th over, the home side witnessed a mini-collapse. With 58 runs still required, the UAE lower-order held their nerves, with each batter contributing crucial runs. Needing 12 off the last over, Dhruv Parashar began strongly, smashing a six off Tanzim Hasan’s full toss. Though Parashar was dismissed next ball, a no-ball and a risky double between Haider Ali and Matiullah Khan sealed the deal. Towhid Hridoy’s delayed throw allowed Haider to complete the winning runs on the penultimate delivery, taking the side over the line.
