Another failed World Cup for Bangladesh women’s team

Another failed World Cup for Bangladesh womens team

Before the Women’s T20 World Cup, the Bangladesh women’s team was in good form. The Tigresses went to play in South Africa after winning the qualifiers. But Bangladesh seems to have lost its rhythm after going to the world stage. After losing the first two matches to Australia and Sri Lanka, the dream of going to the next round ended early. Coming to the last match, Bangladesh also got the bitter taste of defeat against South Africa.

Bangladesh faced the hosts in Cape Town on Tuesday. Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti won the toss and decided to bat first. But by batting first, they did not get a huge collection. Bangladesh managed to score only 113 runs from the scheduled over. The Proteas won by playing to chase that goal. That too by a big margin of 10 wickets.

However, Jyoti feels that the Proteas could have been challenged if the target was a little bigger. After the loss, the Bangladesh captain said, “140 runs could have been a good collection on such a wicket. We couldn’t build a good pair. If you don’t set a good target by batting first, it becomes difficult for the bowlers. Still, our bowlers did well.”

However, before embarking on the World Cup mission, there were words of hope in the Bangladesh captain’s voice. Even speaking about their goals, Jyoti also said that they are dreaming of playing in the semi-finals. But that dream was not fulfilled, on the contrary, the tigresses have to return home with painful memories. However, the captain did not make a mistake in expressing her gratitude to the fans. Jyoti thanked everyone.

With this, another World Cup ended empty-handed for Bangladesh. There is no big achievement, they are not even seeing victory. Bangladesh won the T20 World Cup in the first edition, at home in 2014. Playing as hosts, Bangladesh won two matches. This time the Tigresses have disappointed despite raising the possibility. So, the wait becomes longer. However, the Bangladesh captain expressed hope to do better in the future.
