[WATCH] IPL cheerleader expresses fear after PBKS-DC tie gets abandoned

One of the cheerleaders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) explained the series of events that took place at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Thursday, May 8. The match was abandoned in the middle of the first innings, amid the cross-border tension between India and Pakistan.

She seemed understandably petrified as she made her way out of the stadium. In a video, she said that the stadium was evacuated in the middle of the match, with people shouting “bombs coming”. She hoped to get help from the IPL authorities so that she could safely move out of Dharamsala.

“So basically, the whole stadium in the middle of the game was evacuated, and it was very scary. Everyone was just screaming bombs coming. It is still very, very scary. We want to really go out of Dharamsala, and I hope the IPL people are going to look after us. This is very, very scary. I don’t know why I am not crying. I think I’m still in shock [as to] what’s happening,” she said in the video.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla mentioned that a special train would be arranged to bring the players, support staff, and broadcast crew out of Dharamsala. He also said that a decision regarding the future of the IPL will be taken on Friday.

Punjab Kings had moved to 122/1 in 10.1 overs after Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh smashed belligerent half-centuries. Arya was dismissed by T Natarajan, as PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer came out to bat. However, before the experienced campaigner could face a ball, the match was called off.

Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are scheduled to lock horns at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday. However, it is still uncertain whether the match will be held or not.
