3 things RCB has to fix to qualify for the playoffs

3 things RCB has to fix to qualify for the playoffs

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have been performing admirably in the Indian Premier League 2025, securing victories in seven out of ten matches. With only a few more wins needed to secure a playoff spot, the team is on the verge of making a strong postseason run. However, to ensure they cement their place in the final four and aim for their maiden title, RCB will need to address some areas for improvement.

3. The fourth overseas player for RCB needs to show up

Phil Salt, Tim David, and Josh Hazlewood have been exceptional in the ongoing IPL, but contributions from the fourth overseas player have been lacking. RCB initially opted for Liam Livingstone, who played seven matches but managed just 87 runs at an average of 17.40 and took two wickets at an economy rate of 38. More recently, the West Indies’ fast-bowling all-rounder Romario Shepherd has participated in the last two games, yet he, too, has struggled to make a mark. He has not yet batted and, in his three overs bowled, he has conceded 33 runs while taking only one wicket.

2. Use Tim David prudently

David has been a standout performer for RCB, amassing 165 runs in just six innings at an impressive average of 82.50 and a strike rate of 187.50. His ability to impact the game has been significant every time he steps to the crease. RCB must leverage David’s exceptional form to maximise their chances.

1. The bowling lineup must show up as a unit

Royal Challengers Bangalore have been fortunate that the right-handed pacer from Australia has been at his best this season. The current purple cap holder has scalped 18 wickets in the last 10 innings at an economy of almost eight runs an over. Apart from Hazelwood, the entire bowling unit has underperformed so far. If Hazlewood were to have an ordinary day, Royal Challengers Bangalore may get in all sorts of trouble. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Yash Dayal, Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya need to prove their mettle more consistently.
