In reply, Delhi Capitals had a shaky start as Abishek Porel fell early, and Karun Nair followed soon after. Faf du Plessis held one end strongly and hammered a solid half-century, and found good support from Patel. The duo brought DC back into contention, targeting the KKR spinners, with Axar hitting three sixes off Narine.

But the game turned in the 14th over. Narine, leading in Rahane’s absence due to injury, brought himself back into the attack. He struck twice in an over, removing both Axar and Tristan Stubbs, before returning next over to dismiss the well-set du Plessis. Despite some late hitting from Vipraj Nigam and taking the game till the final over, the defending champions successfully defended the target to register an 14-run win and break their two-match losing streak.
