[Watch] IPL 2025: Emotional Vaibhav Suryavanshi makes heartwarming call to father after record-shattering century

Vaibhav Suryavanshi made an emotional video call to his father after smashing a record 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur in match 47 in IPL 2025.

Suryavanshi was spotted alongside RR manager, Romi Bhinder, while speaking to his father over video call. Suryavanshi’s father Sanjiv was over the moon after his son’s heroics with the bat. When asked whom he would want to make the first call to, Suryavanshi took his father Sanjiv’s name. It was a truly heartwarming interaction between the father-son duo, one which is gaining immense traction on social media.

Sanjiv credited Bhinder’s support and went as far as admitting that it felt like a dream-come-true moment for Suryavanshi’s family. Bhinder, in turn, humbly denied the praise and commended Sanjiv’s hardwork and trust placed in the teenage sensation.

Suryavanshi expressed his sentiments while collecting his Player of the Match accolade. He felt elated with what he had done on the field. Suryavanshi also admitted that he was content with the fruits of his hardwork from the past, and that his sole focus was on the ball and not any other external factor.

“It is a very good feeling. It’s my first hundred in the IPL and it’s my third innings. The result has shown here after the practice before the tournament. I just see the ball and play. Batting with Jaiswal is good, he tells me what to do and he infuses positive things. It has been a dream to get a 100 in the IPL and today it materialised. There is no fear. I don’t think much, I just focus on playing,” he said after being named the Player of the Match.

RR will next take on Mumbai Indians on Thursday, May 1. All eyes will be on Suryavanshi after he broke all sorts of records during his blistering 101 off 38 deliveries. His match-defining knock comprised seven fours and 11 sixes. Notably, this was Suryavanshi’s third innings in the IPL.
