Rohit Sharma and Abdul Samad will be seen in action together during the Match 45 of IPL 2025 between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday, April 27.

Ahead of the thrilling contest, the duo was seen engaging in a senior-junior chat with each other at the Wankhede when the teams were out for net practice. The Jammu & Kashmir cricketer went up to the India captain for tips on finding improvements in the game. Rohit, despite being in the opposition side, was happy to share his experience and techniques of batting according to changing conditions.

“Hit it either off this leg or off that leg. You know why I’m saying this, it’s because every wicket has a pace. It’s different every day. Today the humidity is more, so there will be moisture. If it’s less humid and more windy, then the pitch is better to bat on. You won’t get that knowledge until the match starts,” Rohit was seen advising Samad.

“Whatever ability you have, whatever talent, whatever technique, some things don’t work without technique, let’s accept that. Tu mere jaisa nahin khel sakta, main tere jaisa nahin khel sakta (You can’t play like me, I can’t play like you), Tera apna ek talent hai (You have your talent). If I go to copy you or you try to copy me, or if I go to copy his technique or his technique, life will pass by in that time. Most important is what is up here,” he advised further.

Rohit and Samad’s performance in 2025

The Mumbai Indians star had a sedated start to the 2025 edition of the tournament. But was slowly seen picking up pace, and the last two games have been nothing short of brilliant for him, as he amassed big half-centuries in both the games, first in Mumbai against RCB and then in Hyderabad against SRH. So far, the 37-year-old has 228 runs at an average of 32.57 and an impressive strike-rate of 154.05.

Abdul Samad, on the other hand, is yet to play a big knock, but had shown just a glimpse of his capabilities in the game against Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur, as LSG went on to beat the hosts in their own den, where the 23-year-old contributed 30* off just 10 balls, which included four huge sixes towards the fag end of the first innings.
