PSL broadcast suspended in India in light of Pahalgam terror attack

PSL broadcast suspended in India in light of Pahalgam terror attack

The official live streaming platform FanCode has stopped covering the Pakistan Super League (PSL) altogether. It will no longer livestream the matches. Moreover, it has also removed past videos of the ongoing season. Meanwhile, the Fancode management has not yet made an official statement.

Reports have indicated that the official TV broadcaster for the league, Sony Sports Network, has also suspended their coverage.

The reason behind such moves is the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir on April 22 in which 26 lives were lost. The tension between India and Pakistan, as a result, has arisen which is being seen in the measures each country is taking against another.

Cricketing world condemns Pahalgam terror attack

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said in an official statement two days ago that the Board condemned the ‘cowardly act’ and extended their heartfelt condolences to the families of the departed souls.

“The cricketing community is deeply shocked and anguished by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the gruesome terror attack at Pahalgam yesterday. On behalf of the BCCI, while condemning this ghastly and cowardly act with the strongest possible words, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the departed souls. In sharing their pain and grief, we stand hand in hand at this hour of tragedy,” said Saikia in a statement.

Cricketers across India shared their condolences and condemnations. Virat Kohli posted a story about the attack on his Instagram.

“Deeply saddened by the heinous attack in Pahalgam on innocent people. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength to families of all those who lost their lives and justice to be served for this cruel act,” wrote Kohli.

The after-effect of the incident has led to the BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla stating that there is no scope for India to play Pakistan in bilateral series now.

But when the it comes to ICC event we play due to ICC engagement. ICC is also aware whatever is happening they Will to it,” Shukla told Sports Tak.
