Islamabad United produced a brilliant all-round performance to outclass Multan Sultans in match No. 13 of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 on Wednesday, April 23, at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Mohammad Rizwan won the toss for Multan and opted to bat first. While Yasir Khan looked in amazing touch, hitting boundaries easily, Rizwan struggled to find his timing. However, the duo formed a 51-run partnership inside the first seven overs before Mohammad Nawaz gave Islamabad their first breakthrough.

Usman Khan walked out to bat at No. 3 and didn’t take long to get going. Rizwan was playing second fiddle as Usman slammed 47 runs in a partnership that yielded 65. Pakistan’s ODI skipper departed after scoring a 37-ball 36.

Michael Bracewell and Iftikhar Ahmed fell cheaply, but Khan played a brilliant knock of 61 off 40 balls. Kamran Ghulam scored an unbeaten 13 off six balls as Multan finished on 168/5 in their 20 overs. Jason Holder was the pick of the bowlers for Islamabad as he scalped the important wicket of the dangerous Iftikhar and conceded just 25 runs in his four overs.

In reply, Sahibzada Farhan got his team off to a flying start with Andries Gous for company. The former was dismissed by Ubaid Shah after he scored a 13-ball 22. Colin Munro joined forces with Gous, and they added an 81-run stand off just 48 deliveries.

Michael Bracewell sent Munro packing after the New Zealand batters scored a 28-ball 45. Nawaz and Gous added 55 runs off 39 deliveries to take Islamabad closer to the target. After the former was dismissed for 21 in the 17th over, Gous finished proceedings by hitting a six off Ubaid’s bowling with 17 balls and seven wickets in the bank.

The USA wicketkeeper-batter finished unbeaten on 80 off 45 balls, belting six fours and five sixes. With this win, Islamabad extended its winning streak to five matches in PSL 2025. Meanwhile, Multan continued languishing at the bottom of the table with just one win and four defeats from five games.
