A few days ago, Pretorius said goodbye to international cricket. All his attention now revolves around leagues like the BPL. The Protea all-rounder is playing this year’s BPL for Fortune Barisal. He observed the Mirpur cricket ground well before entering the field on the first day. Later he faced the media and said that he is not ready to play the first match in BPL. He also said that after retiring from the national team, he will spend his busy time with these franchise-based leagues from now on.

The 33-year-old cricketer said goodbye to international cricket in January this year. He was also in the T20 World Cup squad in 2022. But injuries did not allow him to play in the World Cup. The desire to play international cricket may die then. Now he wants to focus more on T20 cricket. So that he can be the best in this format. His demand is also quite high in the T20 market.

About the BPL experience, the Protea all-rounder said, “BPL is new for me. It feels good. New environment, new ground. I hope it’s a good challenge for me. I retired a few days ago. I’m not busy with international cricket anymore. I will have a busy time with a league like BPL.”

The franchise league in South Africa started this year. Pretorius played for the Durban Super Giant team there. However, he is now playing in the BPL as he could not confirm the playoffs for Super Giant in the SA20. He hinted that he would be seen more and more in such tournaments from now on. He said, “I have very little free time in front of me now. I will try to play more in such tournaments. Then I will have a busy time.”

Apart from the franchise of Bangladesh, he is involved in several other franchise leagues. Pretorius are also regular in IPL, PSL, Caribbean Premier League. His team is Chennai Super Kings in IPL, and Quetta Gladiators in PSL. He plays for the Walsh Fire in the Hundred and for St. Kitts and St. Nevis in Caribbean Premier League.
