3 reasons why Rajasthan Royals (RR) lost to LSG in the 36th match of the IPL 2025

Rajasthan Royals suffered a two-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants in the 36th clash of the Indian Premier League 2025, which took place on April 19th at Sawai Man Singh Cricket Stadium in Jaipur. The side showcased their best form but fell short by two runs and lost the crucial game, placing them in eighth spot on the points table.

The LSG side posted 180/5 in the given 20 overs after opting to bat first. However, RR was in the game till the last over but managed to get 178 runs after 20 overs of the game. Given below are the three reasons that showcase why they lost to LSG in this game.

1. Abdul Samad’s cameo

Abdul Samads cameo

The RR side was in the game, but LSG’s star batter Abdul Samad’s brilliant knock guided the side to post a huge total. He hammered 30 off 10 balls, featuring four towering sixes with a solid strike rate of 300. Things could have been changed if this cameo hadn’t been there.

2. RR’s poor batting at the death

Yashasvi Jaiswal

The side had a stunning start in the power plays, with opening batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryanshi hammering 74 and 34 runs, respectively. However, batters failed to step up in the death overs, making them lose this game by a narrow margin. Wicket-keeper batter Shimron Hetmyer and star batter Shubham Dubey showcased horrendous form in the middle overs and death overs, making them lose an easy contest and putting them on the brink of elimination this time.

3. Casual approach for Chase

Riyan Parag

One must agree that the side had a great start, with the opening showcasing their best form. However, the rest of the batters failed to live up to the expectations. Skipper Riyan Parag failed to use tactical skills and a dynamic approach, which caused their batting unit to collapse. RR seems to have a casual approach to this game after the opening batters got dismissed. The aggression was completely missing, which led them to lose this game.
