IPL 2025: GT vs RR, Match 23 – Full highlights, top moments & winner details

The Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 58 runs in Match 23 of the ongoing Indian Premier League at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, April 9. This victory marked GT’s fourth of the season.

After being sent in to bat first, GT recorded 56 in the powerplay. Shubman Gill (two off three) was dismissed early on by a fiery delivery by Jofra Archer. However, it was mainly due to Sai Sudharsan that the hosts could utilise their first six overs. Jos Buttler (36 off 25) was trapped in front via a Maheesh Theekshana delivery on the final ball of the 10th over.

Sudharsan’s 82-run knock came to an end in the penultimate over of the innings. Previously, Shahrukh Khan’s 36 played quite an important role in keeping up the momentum. Rahul Tewatia ended up unbeaten on 24 off 12 deliveries. Archer was the pick of the bowlers for RR. He conceded only 30 runs in his four-over quota. GT concluded their innings on 217/6.

The second and third overs produced wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal (six off seven) and Nitish Rana (one off three). Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag ensured that RR got up to 57 in their powerplay. Impact Player, Kulwant Khejroliya, made an instant impact after being brought on. He dismissed Riyan Parag (26 off 14) in the seventh over. RR lost one more wicket in the form of Dhruv Jurel before reaching the midway stage.

RR ended up getting bowled out for 159 in 19.2 overs. Prasidh Krishna came back excellently well to finish with figures of 3/24 to his name in his entire quota. Sai Kishore (2/20 in 2.2 overs) and Rashid Khan (2/37) were the others who were amongst the wickets. Shimron Hetmyer (52 off 32) fought valiantly with Samson (41 off 28) playing decently well as well.

1. Sai Sudharsan shines with a regal knock

The left-handed batter was sublime in his strokeplay during his time at the crease. Sudharsan seemed equally adept at facing the pacers and spinners alike. His fourth IPL half-century this season was just what was required by GT.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s splendid effort in the field leads to the dismissal of Rashid Khan

Rashid was looking quite dangerous at the back end of GT’s innings. An out-of-the-box shot seemed destined to go for a boundary. However, Jaiswal at backward square leg sprang across to his right to dive full stretch and hang on to a spectacular catch.

3. Prasidh Krishna dismisses the final glimmer for RR

Prasidh’s double-wicket over included that of Hetmyer too. A bumper down leg-side was directed towards deep backward square leg, where Kishore snagged an easy catch.
