IPL 2025: 3 changes MI should make ahead of their clash against KKR

The Mumbai Indians team should make three compulsory changes before their match against the Kolkata Knight Riders. For many years, Mumbai Indians have been struggling to win the opening match of the IPL season. Even this year, the jinx continued as they lost two back-to-back matches.

It’s time to take some real action to get back to winning ways. Kolkata has a powerful and experienced batting lineup, and most of their batters have experience playing in Wankhede.  Mumbai should get back to the drawing boards and bring back some players who are real match-winners.

3 changes MI should make ahead of their clash against KKR

1. Will Jacks back to the team

Will Jacks

The Opening has been a big problem for the five-time champions. So, bringing back Will Jacks instead of Ryan Rickleton will add more balance. The South African could play as a one-down batter for the Mumbai Indians. Will Jacks is also a powerful hitter who could help Rohit Sharma play freely and display his natural batting. Jacks is also a more experienced batter than Ryan, and he could handle the IPL pressure better.

Will Jacks is also one of the best spin players, and most of the venues played in the IPL are spin-friendly. He could take on the spinners well, and Rohit Sharma can take on the fast bowlers. This move will bring stability in their opening batting lineup and take the pressure away from the middle-order batters.

2. A new Impact Player

Robin Minz

Mumbai Indians can replace Robin Minz as the impact player with someone who can make a real difference in the game. They could bring in Krishnan Shrijith, a wicketkeeper-batter who can also play in the middle order, adding more depth to the batting lineup.

3. Vignesh Puthur the mystery spinner

Vignesh Putur

Everybody was stunned after the Mumbai Indians dropped Vignesh Putur against the Gujarat Titans. The man from Kerala created headlines in his debut IPL match after he took the wickets of CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube and Deepak Hooda.

He also made life tougher for the rest of the CSK batters with his mystery spin. So he should definitely be back in the squad, replacing medium pacer Satyanarayana Raju. The Wankhade track, with its extra bounce, will help Vignesh take on KKR batters like Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane, who have more experience playing in Mumbai.
