Will Mayank Yadav play against DC? Justin Langer’s injury update leaves LSG fans worried ahead of IPL 2025 clash

Will Mayank Yadav play against DC? Justin Langer’s injury update leaves LSG fans worried ahead of IPL 2025 clash

The next game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) will be between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). One of the players to watch out for this season was Mayank Yadav. However, LSG head coach Justin Langer’s update on the young pacer was not promising at all, as injury woes continue to affect the Lucknow franchise.

The 22-year-old pacer impressed fans with his pace in the last edition of the IPL but has been struggling with fitness issues due to multiple injuries. Just as fans were happy to see Mayank bowling in the nets during pre-season training camps, Langer revealed that the young fast bowler had suffered an unusual injury.

He had accidentally kicked his toe on his bed, which led to an infection and increased his time in rehab. Though Langer has said that he has continued bowling, it turns out he might only be available towards the latter part of the tournament.

“Mayank, who everyone was very excited about last year, was going quite well, and then he kicked his toe on the bed. He got an infection in his toe, which has set his rehab back by about a week or two. But he’s up and running. We regularly see videos of him bowling. I saw a video of his yesterday. So, hopefully, by the back end of the tournament, Mayank will be up and ready to go for us,” Langer was quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.

LSG struggles with injuries as key pacers sidelined

Lucknow’s injury woes do not stop there. Apart from Mayank Yadav, another player retained by the franchise, Mohsin Khan will also miss the rest of the season due to a calf strain. Additionally, pacer Akash Deep, who impressed fans while playing Test matches for India, is also nursing a back injury.

Mohsin has now been replaced by Mumbai’s pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who has had a great domestic season so far. Additionally, one of their highest wicket-takers last season, Avesh Khan, is also dealing with a minor knee injury.
