The debate about umpiring in BPL starts again

আম্পায়ারিং নিয়ে বিপিএলে পুনরায় বিতর্ক শুরু

Before the start of BPL, it is known that there will be no DRS in this season. And even if it’s not early. But what is the point of such a DRS, where wrong decisions are made even by watching TV replays? Such questions are now being raised around BPL. Comilla coach Mohammad Salahuddin asked how the third umpire gave a wrong out after watching the TV, even though it was not out with the naked eye.

Fortune Barisal fielded against Comilla Victorians in BPL on Saturday. In this match, many things are being said about the wrong decision of the umpire. The first wrong decision was field umpire Morshed Ali Khan. He gave a wrong leg-before decision to Comilla’s Zaker Ali off Barisal’s Pakistani pacer Iftekhar Ahmed. The ball pitched outside the leg stump but he was dismissed. Then the TV replay also showed that the ball was pitched outside the leg stump.

The question then arises, mistakes can be made with the naked eye, but how can wrong decisions be made by watching TV replays? TV umpire Tanveer Ahmed gave out after watching the replay. And then many are claiming, then what is the need for DRS? The decision has to be made after watching the game on the field. Comilla’s coach Mohammad Salauddin was also disappointed with this.

He said to the press, “Everybody saw what happened on the field. I can’t really say anything at this moment. There is a lot of debate going on about it. I said at the beginning you will lose the match by one or two decisions. We did not expect what happened in the match. These are the reasons for the BPL. So much controversy, if the decisions are given a little more thought, it would be good for everyone. Otherwise, the controversy over umpiring will increase”.

Salahuddin claims that the TV umpire is giving out even if he seems not out with the naked eye. However, he thinks there is no use in protesting here. He also expressed fear that he will be suspended if he makes noise in the field. Salahuddin said, “The umpire’s decision in the match was controversial. What I see with the naked eye is not out, it is given by the third umpire. What can we do to protest such a decision? Everyone has actually seen what is happening on the field. We have nothing to do. We all shout on the field. Do you want it? Then it will be suspended, in fact, we have nothing to do.”

Mohammad Salauddin also claimed that the decision of the umpire was not good even in the first match. Then it happened a second time. He thinks it is better not to have DRS in BPL. In this context, Salahuddin also said, “Because of these reasons, the quality of BPL is decreasing. It is better not to have such DRS. It increases unnecessary controversy. It is better to give what the umpire will give. It has pitched completely outside the leg stump. But the umpire gave a wrong decision. Sad thing”.

In the previous seasons too, the controversy about BPL is not less. BCB wanted to make the BPL controversy free this time. But it is a matter to be seen whether the current situation will lead to further controversy.
