Just ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, in a significant shake-up, the data reveals that India’s Shubman Gill and Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana have proudly escalated to the No.1 rankings in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings.

Surpassing former Pakistan captain Babar Azam, Shubman Gill has reclaimed the top spot in the batting rankings. This is the second time the charming right-handed batter has held the No.1 position, where the first time he achieved it was during the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Gill’s recent ton against England in Ahmedabad played an important role in hastening him to the summit.

Babar Azam now moves into the second place, backing Gill by 23 rating points, while Rohit Sharma, the India captain remains third,  with 45 points behind his compatriot.

New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell has moved up to the fifth spot, while Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka made an enormous leap of eight spots to enter the top 10, following at No.8. Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan also climbed to a career-rise position, mounting six spots to 15th one. Meanwhile, Devon Conway (35th), Glenn Phillips (41st), and Salman Agha (48th) have made evident stomps in the ranking list.

From the bowling unit, Maheesh Theekshana has deposed the stunner Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan to become the world’s top-ranked ODI bowler. His magnificent play against Australia, counting a four-wicket haul in Colombo which in lead helped him secure the No.1 ranking, creating history as the first ever Sri Lankan spinner to achieve the triumph. Rashid now stays back as Theekshana soars ahead by just 11 points and will be eager to get back the spot during the Champions Trophy tournament.

India’s Kuldeep Yadav has clinched the fourth position, while South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj has to the sixth ranking and New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner is in the seventh and has also made a slight improvement in their rankings. Meantime, Afghanistan bowler Mohammad Nabi continues to rule the ODI all-rounder rankings, with Santner climbing up to sixth.
