Jemimah Rodrigues provided some momentum with a quickfire 34 off 22 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes, but her dismissal stumped by Richa Ghosh off Georgia Wareham’s bowling, put DC Women in further trouble.  

Annabel Sutherland (19 off 13) and Sarah Bryce (23 off 19) played handy cameos, but the lower middle order failed to capitalize, with key all-rounders Marizanne Kapp (12) and Jess Jonassen (1) falling cheaply. Radha Yadav, Arundhati Reddy, and Shikha Pandey could not contribute much either, as DC Women were bowled out for 141 in 19.3 overs.

RCB Women’s bowling attack was impressive, with Renuka Singh leading the charge by picking up three wickets for just 23 runs in her four overs. Georgia Wareham also played a crucial role, taking three wickets, including the dismissals of Jemimah Rodrigues and Sarah Bryce. Kim Garth and Ekta Bisht chipped in with two wickets each, ensuring that DC Women never gained momentum.

Chasing 142, RCB Women got off to a flying start with Captain Smriti Mandhana and Danni Wyatt-Hodge putting on a dominant opening partnership of 107 runs. Mandhana played a spectacular knock, scoring 81 off 47 balls, smashing ten fours and three sixes. Wyatt complemented her well, scoring 42 off 33 balls with seven boundaries. The duo took the game away from Delhi’s bowlers, finding gaps with ease and punishing anything loose.

Though Wyatt fell in the 11th over, caught by Jemimah Rodrigues off Arundhati Reddy’s bowling, and Mandhana departed at 133, RCB Women were already in complete control. Ellyse Perry (7*) and Richa Ghosh (11* off 5) finished the chase comfortably, sealing the win in just 16.2 overs. Delhi’s bowlers had a tough outing, with Shikha Pandey and Arundhati Reddy picking up one wicket each, but none of the others could contain the onslaught from Mandhana and Wyatt.

This victory gave RCB Women a strong start in the tournament, showcasing their batting depth and bowling strength. Meanwhile, DC Women will have to regroup quickly and work on their middle-order batting issues to bounce back in the competition.
