India sealed a series win in a rather comprehensive fashion in the second ODI against England. India will look to complete a series sweep while England will want to salvage some pride in what will be the last ODI both teams will play before the Champions Trophy.

In the second ODI, England won the toss and batted first and got off to a flier powered by Ben Duckett. Ravindra Jadeja and India’s spinners brought India back into the game, but Joe Root’s fifty and a spirited finish took England to a total that looked respectable at the halfway mark.

India came out swinging and at the forefront of it was Rohit Sharma. Rohit turned the clock back and showed what he was capable of, at least in this format. With support from Shubman Gill, Sharma smashed a century to blow the English bowlers away. By the time Rohit departed, the result was all but a formality that was ultimately fulfilled by the middle order despite a late collapse.

The two ODIs have given a clearer picture of where both teams stand and this third ODI presents the last chance of working out all chinks right before a marquee event.
