Former India cricketer, Yusuf Pathan helped a physically disabled lady at the Jeddah airport to board the flight. In pictures that are surfacing on the internet and as per HBNTV News, Pathan could be seen chatting with the person and subsequently aided the lady to board the flight who was on her way to Mumbai.

It is worth noting that, the 42-year-old was sworn in as the Member of Parliament after winning the Lok Sabha seat from Baharampur constituency in West Bengal in June 2024. He fought the election after joining the Trinamool Congress (TMC) party headed by Mamata Banerjee. He defeated Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of the Indian National Congress (INC) by 85,022 votes to win in his debut election.

“Standing with my Abba and the MP winning certificate. The joy and pride are similar to representing India in cricket. From sports to politics, my mission is to serve and develop our great nation. Abba is proud and delighted that I have this chance to make a difference,” Pathan wrote on ‘X’ after winning the election.

Pathan has played for Kolkata Knight Riders from 2011-2017 and has close ties with the city due to his Indian Premier League appearances for the Kolkata-based franchise. As TMC announced his name as the contestant from the Baharampur constituency, there were apprehensions as he hails from Gujarat. He cited the example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to settle the debate. However, at the swearing-in ceremony, the cricketer exclaimed, ‘Jai Hind, Jai Bangla, Jai Gujarat.’

“Narendra Modi is from Gujarat but contests from Varanasi, so what’s the problem if I contest from here (Bengal) ” Pathan said as quoted by Times of India.
