3 reasons why Jos Buttler is better pick for Gujarat Titans for the IPL 2025

3 reasons why Jos Buttler is better pick for Gujarat Titans for the IPL 2025

England T20I skipper Jos Buttler has been roped in by Gujarat Titans during the 2025 IPL mega two-day auction at Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. The 34-year-old cricketer’s experience, wicket-keeping skills, and leadership make him one of the most amazing talents from the England camp to watch out for. In addition, Buttler’s capability of batting in multiple positions will be a big boost for the 2022 IPL champions.

The Taunton-born cricketer, known for his blistering performances in the T20s and exceptional wicketkeeping skills, also led England to win the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.

The three major reasons why Jos Buttler is a better pick for Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL 2025 edition:

1. Can keep wickets, allowing the team to play additional Indian stars.

England T20I skipper Jos Buttler can work as a wicketkeeper as well for the side, which will allow the side to make more places for Indian stars to appear in the team for the side. The stylish right-handed batter has been doing the glove work over the years for his national side, and GT might use him as a main wicket-keeper batter.

2. One of the most experienced players in the league with a good strike rate

Jos Buttler seems one of the most experienced players in the tournament and can boost the top and middle orders of the game for the Gujarat side. The 34-year-old cricketer was great in the IPL 2022, single-handedly guiding the RR side to the finals before his side suffered defeat against Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022. In addition, the Taunton-born star played exceptionally well in IPL 2024 before SRH thwarted Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2.

3. Can open with Shubman Gill

Jos Buttler can be a good opening batter for the Gujarat Titans, who can bat well alongside skipper Shubman Gill. Wriddhiman Saha was the opening batter for GT but has always failed to give a great start. Buttler and Gill can make a great partnership for the IPL 2022 champions and might pose a big threat to the bowlers, especially in the power plays.
