3 DC players who could stay on bench during IPL 2025

The Delhi Capitals side headed into the 2025 IPL mega-auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, after letting go of their former skipper, Rishabh Pant, and retained Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristian Stubbs, and Abhishek Porel. In the two-day auction room, the Capitals got Jake Fraser McGurk and Mukesh Kumar through RTMs while the latter added players like KL Rahul, Faf du Plessis, and Mitchell Starc to the squad. The side also got the services of Mohit Sharma and T Natarajan.

In a nutshell, the franchise has worked really well on the overall balance of the team and goes with an approach of horses for courses. However, here are the three players who might not get any chance to make their appearance in the 2025 IPL edition.

1. Darshan Nalkande

He has been the leading wicket-taker for the Vidarbha side in the ongoing campaign of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25, but Delhi Capitals oasts a strong bowling lineup considering the likes of Axar Patel, Mukesh Kumar, and Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI. However, if any of the players got injured, then DC management might approach him thanks to his prowess with a long handle late in the innings.

2. Dushmantha Chameera

This Sri Lankan bowler might get rested in the forthcoming edition of the IPL as the side has spent most of its money to acquire the services of Mitchell Starc. The left-arm pacer showcased his great form in the 2024 IPL final against SRH and played a crucial role in guiding the side to win their third title. However, he can be a backup option for Starc in the forthcoming edition.

3. Karun Nair

The star batter is the leading run-scorer for Vidarbha in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and played a crucial role in guiding his side to the quarter-finals of the tournament. Despite that, this 33-year-old cricketer might get benched, as the side also possesses the batters with the likes of Faf du Plessis, KL Rahul, Abhishek Porel, Harry Brook, Tristain Stubbs, and Jake-Fraser McGurk. The stylish right-handed batter might not even get the chance to play as a backup player.
