Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Predicting Pakistan’s Playing XI for their clash against New Zealand

Pakistan women will be playing their final Group Stage match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 against New Zealand women on the 14th of October 2024 at 7:30 PM (IST). It will be a must-win game for both teams. In particular, Pakistan will be hoping to win their game at all costs. They do have a big boost for the game as Sana Mir is set to play the game.

However, it will not be an easy ride for the Asian team which has sustained a big loss in their previous game against the Australian Women. For them to create an upset, the Pakistani Women must be at their best. Going with their best team would be key. While there is one certain change on cards, the Pakistani Women’s team is unlikely to make other changes.

Here’s the potential playing XI of Pakistani Women for their game against the New Zealand Women’s team:

Top Order – Muneeba Ali (WK), Sidra Amin, and Sadaf Shamas

The Pakistani top order has some talented batters. Muneeba Ali and Sidra Amin are likely to open the innings. Both are slow by nature and might have to accelerate better. Muneeba will be handy with her wicket-keeping skills. To follow them would be Sadaf Shamas. The talented player could play a key role at number 3.

Middle Order – Nida Dar, Sana Mir (C), and Aliya Riaz

In the middle order, Pakistan has a lot of experience. They will have two of their best players, Nida Dar and Sana Mir, at number 4 and 5 respectively. Sana will have the additional responsibility of leading the side. The duo can roll their arms over and claim wickets in the middle. To follow them would be Aliya Riaz at number 6. Her SR needs to be at a higher rate.

Lower Middle Order – Iram Javed and Tuba Hassan

In the lower middle order, the Pakistani women have some talented players who can bat and bowl. Iram Javed is likely to continue at number 7. While her bowling has been pretty good, she needs to accelerate as a batter. Tuba Hassan brings the required balance to the side. She will be handy with her bowling and can strike well lower down the order.

Bowlers – Syeda Aroob Shah, Nashra Sandhu, and Sadia Iqbal

Pakistani bowling has what it takes to do well in the spin-friendly conditions of the UAE. They have some emerging bowlers in their lineup like Syeda Aroob Shah, Nashra Sandhu, and Sadia Iqbal. All of them have been doing a decent job in the ongoing tournament. The key for them would be to restrict a strong side like New Zealand Women to a score of under 120 runs.
