Recently, the Indian women’s cricket team went to play in England. There, the Indian team is floating in the tide of joy after winning the ODI series against England by 3-0. However, Taniya Bhatia received bad news. The Indian wicketkeeper’s money, jewelery and essentials were stolen from her hotel room in London.

Taniya wrote in a message on the social networking site Twitter informing about the theft, ”Shocked and disappointed at Marriot Hotel London Maida Vale management; someone walked into my personal room and stole my bag with cash, cards, watches and jewellery during my recent stay as a part of Indian Women’s Cricket team. Marriott Hotels so unsafe.”

Taniya requested a proper investigation to the England Cricket Board (ECB) and the hotel authorities. The Indian cricketer also wrote, ”Hoping for a quick investigation and resolution of this matter. Such lack of security at England and Wales Cricket Board’s preferred hotel partner is astounding. Hope they will take cognisance as well.”

However, the hotel authorities immediately apologized for the unfortunate incident. In response to Taniya’s tweet, they wrote, ”Hi Taniya, we are sorry for the news (the theft). Please let us know your name, the email account you booked the room with and the specific date. So that we can take action in this regard.”

But so far, the lost items have not been recovered. As soon as the matter came to light, there created an uproar in world cricket. There were also questions about the security of the cricketers in the hotel. However, this cricketer did not play a single match against England in this tour. The authorities are working to recover Taniya’s lost belongings till the last news.
