Bangladesh women's cricket team got the World Cup ticket by defeating Thailand

Bangladesh women’s cricket team defeated Thailand by 11 runs in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers. With that, also confirmed the next T20 World Cup. On September 23, the Tigers achieved two successes at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi by winning against Thailand.

Bangladesh women’s cricket team played a semi-final against Thailand in the T20 World Cup qualifying round on Friday. After losing the toss and batting first, Nigar Sultana’s side could not score big runs. They scored only 113 runs for 5 wickets. But the Nigars packed Thailand within 102 runs and won by 11 runs.

In the past, Bangladesh’s women’s cricket team has the experience to play in the World Cup from the qualifying round. They have played on the World Cup stage as runners-up once and champions twice in 2015, 2018 and lastly 2019 World Cup qualifiers. But in 2014, Bangladesh played directly in T20 World Cup as host. South Africa has secured the World Cup ticket as the host this year.

Bangladesh and Ireland got a chance to play in the World Cup by playing in the finals of the World Cup qualifiers. A total of 10 countries will participate in the 2023 T20 World Cup. India, Australia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, West Indies, and Pakistan secured World Cup tickets based on ranking among 10 countries.

Ireland secured the final with a win over Zimbabwe in the first semi-final. Bangladesh confirmed the final after winning against Thailand in the second semi-final. Bangladesh-Ireland will meet in the final on September 25 at 9 pm Bangladesh time.
