Asia Cup has given the Tigers a lot of nightmares. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim announced his retirement after coming back to the country after a failed tour. Although he did not declare the reason. He confirmed the matter himself from his verified Facebook. However, BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon felt bad about such a retirement.

Facing the media, he said, “Mushfiq has retired, we feel bad. I will say till the last day, Mushfiq is our best batsman. There is no place for each person in each format because of team combination, that’s a different matter.”

However, he suggests not to give the retirement announcement themselves but rather give the board the opportunity. Papon said,

“If you think about the future, maybe I won’t get many after two years. Wanting to build a team is also a different issue. But of course, if the cricketers give us an opportunity without declaring themselves, we will bid them farewell with honor. It can be in any format. They can give us the opportunity.”

Mahmudullah Riyad did not get a place in the upcoming World Cup.

However, if he wants to retire, BCB wants to give Mahmudullah an honorable farewell in the future, Papon said. He also said, “If he has to retire and we can’t give him a place, then he should be given this minimum honor. Because Mahmudullah Riyad’s contribution is not to be underestimated. We have won many matches.”

Former T20 captain Mahmudullah Riyad has not yet opened up after being dropped from the World Cup team. However, chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said that he has been dropped from the team after discussing with all the team management. This year’s T20 World Cup will begin on October 16. Before that, Bangladesh will play a tri-nation series in New Zealand.
