OTD | Birth of Holly Colvin, who at 15 years and 336 days became the youngest person to play a Test for England

England’s Holly Colvin became the youngest performer to play a Test match for England. The left-arm spinner played at the age of 15 years and 336 days and took three wickets against Australia in the second innings in the Bowral Test, where England won the game and retained the Ashes. She was included in the England team after a series of terrific performances in the domestic leagues. Colvin was one of the best spinners in England who played for a really long time. 

Colvin made her Test debut in 2005 and played her last match in 2011. It was a full-circle moment for her as she started and ended her career against Australia. However, she only got the chance to feature in five Test matches, where she claimed 13 wickets at an average of 29.38. She also scored 59 runs in those test matches. Moreover, she made her ODI debut against India in 2006 and played her last match against West Indies in 2013. She played 72 matches and claimed 98 wickets, and bowled at an average of 21.80. 

White ball cricket has been her forte as Colvin has played in 50 T20I matches and taken 63 wickets. Her average was brilliant in T20Is, as she bowled at an average of 15.41. Moreover, Colvin made her T20I debut in 2007 against South Africa and played her last match against West Indies in 2013. She was successful in the 2008 season, where she claimed 18 wickets from eight home ODIs at an impressive average of 8.94.
