Dennis Lilee is known as ‘the complete fast bowler’ in the world of cricket.  Coming from Australia, he was the head of the fast bowling attack of the team for more than a decade. Lillee solidified his place among the all-time greats by smashing Lance Gibbs’ world record of 309 Test wickets and finishing with 355 dismissals from only 70 matches. His dedication to developing the next wave of fast bowlers has helped him maintain a prominent reputation even after retiring.

In the 1970–71 Ashes series, Lillee made his Test debut in Adelaide during the Sixth Test, taking 5/84 from 28.3 eight-ball overs. He was the best bowler on either side during the 1972 Ashes tour of England, claiming 31 wickets at an average of 17.67. During the first Test match of the West Indies tour of Australia in Melbourne, the Australian team won the toss and elected to bat first, putting a total of 198 runs in the first innings. Dennis Lilee opened the bowling attack. He first took the wicket of Desmond Haynes for just one run, and by the end of 1st innings, he took 7 wickets and gave 83 runs. Meanwhile, during the first Test match, he took 10 wickets and gave 127 runs.

During the 6th match of the Ashes series between England and Australia at The Oval, England won the toss and invited Australia to bat first. Going to bat, Australia posted 352 runs in the first innings. While defending the score, Dennis Lilee took seven wickets in the first innings and four wickets in the second innings. He was also awarded as Player of the Match for his spell.\

During the only Test match against England in Melbourne, England won the toss and elected to field first. Australia scored 138 runs in the first innings and England managed to score 95 runs in the first innings as Dennis Lilee took 6 wickets in the first innings and 5 wickets in the second innings.
