ENG vs NZ (3rd Test – Day 2)

New Zealand, who won the toss and elected to bat, were in danger on the first day of the third Test of the series in Leeds. New Zealand lost 5 wickets for 123 runs. But then Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell took the helm.

The Kiwis were relieved at the end of the first day. However, the team, which started the second day with 225 runs for 5 wickets, did not get the expected capital even after Mitchell’s century. Jack Leach showed spin magic with the ball. Then New Zealand’s first innings was reduced to 329 runs.

Mitchell and Blundell put on 120 runs. Blundell was dismissed for 55. But Mitchell did not make the mistake of picking up his fourth Test century of his career.

However, Mitchell made 109 runs off 228 balls with 9 boundaries and 3 sixes and could not go far. Leach also trimmed the tail.

Besides, Bracewell made 13 runs from 46 balls. Southee made 33 off 29 balls with 5 fours and 1 six and Wagner made 4 off 8 balls, meaning he hit just 1 four. New Zealand got extra 19 runs.

England left-arm spinner Leach took 5 wickets for 100 runs. Stuart Broad took 3 wickets.

On the second day, New Zealand could have got the test in their hands. The Kiwis, who made 329 in the first innings at Leeds, took six wickets for England for 55 runs.

The English were not relieved after came to bat. Alex Lees (4) was bowled by Trent Boult for 4 runs. Collection was 14 runs for 1 wicket in 4 overs.

None of England’s first four batsmen hit two figures off Trent Boult-Neil Wagner’s cannon. Three of them were bowled by Bolt – Alex Lees (4), Zak Crawley (6) and Ollie Pope (5).

Joe Root could not make more than 5 runs. Tim Southee took his wicket. Captain Ben Stokes (18) and Ben Fox (0) were picked up by Wagner in one over and the English lost 6 wickets for 55 runs.

Does Test cricket mean carefully playing the game without wicket, batting slowly? Jonny Bairstow seems to be changing that idea. The England batsman is regularly bringing the Test and changed it to the T20 level.

In the previous Test, Bairstow played a devastating innings of 136 off 92 balls to help England win. This time, even in the moment of extreme danger of the team, this right-handed batsman was seen with an astonishing look.

Standing there, Jonny Bairstow scored an astounding century. The partner was Jamie Overton. They were unbeaten with a great pair of 209 runs for the seventh wicket.

Bairstow has played 126 balls and scored 130 runs. The batsman hit 21 boundaries in an innings of 103.17 strikeouts.

Fellow Jamie Overton is also not far behind. He is also on the verge of a century with 12 boundaries and 2 sixes from 106 balls and 89 runs. England is trail by 65 runs.

Boult has so far gave 73 runs in 16 overs for New Zealand. Southee gave 78 runs in 17 overs. Wagner gave 53 runs in 9 overs. Bracewell gave 37 runs in 4 overs and Mitchell gave 16 runs in 3 overs.

Today the 3rd day game will start at 4 pm.
