IPL 2024: Skipper Shubman Gill addresses Gujarat Titans fans ahead of campaign opener

Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans’ (GT) newly appointed captain has opened up about his excitement to lead the side in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). He has promised that GT would continue to perform the same way they have done in the previous two editions ahead of their opening clash against Mumbai Indians on March 24 in Ahmedabad. 

Ahead of the highly-anticipated fixture, Gill addressed the fans and stated he was eager to experience the season with the fans. The 24-year-old also stated that he is confident in the team and hoping for another memorable season in the cash-rich league.

“As your captain, I can’t wait to experience this IPL season with all of you. We have had two remarkable seasons with everyone giving it their all. You from the stands, us on the ground. As we start this new season, a new beginning. I assure you that the GT way remains the same. We believe in our group and we will do it for you. Come, together let’s make another memorable season,” Gill said in a video released on GT’s social media platform.

Shubman Gill, who took over the captaincy of Gujarat Titans after Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians had previously expressed his gratitude towards the franchise for giving him such a tremendous opportunity. The Punjab-born batter has been a trump card for GT since making their debut season in 2022. His noteworthy performance came in the 2023 season, where he accumulated 890 runs in 17 games and eventually won the coveted Orange Cap.

“I am delighted and proud to assume the Captaincy of Gujarat Titans and thank the franchise for their trust in me to lead such a fine team. We have had two exceptional seasons and I keenly look forward to leading the team with our exciting brand of cricket,” Gill said.
