Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni arrived in Chennai ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Tuesday, March 05. Notably, the upcoming season is expected to be the last one for the wicketkeeper-batter who had promised his fans to return for another season after receiving immense love from them throughout the country during the 2023 edition of the tournament.

Dhoni led CSK to a record-levelling fifth title in the previous season after a thrilling five-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in the final. The ‘Captain Cool’ departed for a golden duck in the summit clash before Ravindra Jadeja took his team over the line by scoring ten off the last two balls. Following the historic triumph, Dhoni ecstatically lifted Jadeja on his shoulder in a heartwarming moment which became an instant hit all over social media.

Notably, the 42-year-old battled through a knee injury throughout the 2023 season and was welcomed with rousing applause every time he walked onto the pitch. He looked at his vintage best scoring 104 runs from 12 innings in the previous season with his best-ever strike rate in an IPL season of 182.46 clobbering three fours and ten sixes.
