After the injuries of the team’s two fast bowlers, Taskin Ahmed and Shariful Islam, the discussion about Mustafizur Rahman’s playing Test cricket has started. Despite rumours that he would play in the Sri Lanka series, Fizz did not play in that series.

If all goes well, Bangladesh will board the West Indies on the 5th and 6th of next month to play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20s. The cricket board also wants Mustafiz in the team for that series.

Mustafiz flew to India after finishing the ODI series with South Africa. Since then, he has been in the biosecurity zone. Speaking about playing Test cricket, Fizz said he would like to return to white-jersey cricket after resting as he is in a drawn-out game. The board did not inform him of the decision but told him that it would be discussed after his arrival.

Jalal Yunus, chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operations committee, said: “We told him that we needed him. Since we don’t have two main pacers, we should have him. He says that since he has not been in this version for a long time, it is difficult for him to play Tests right now. ”

Jalal Yunus added in his interview that “Mustafiz argues that he has been there (in the IPL) for two months. He said a long time is passing. He may say he is not physically fit. Anyway, we told him to come; let’s see what can be done.”
