‘Captained the side really well’ – Nick Knight sings Rohit Sharma’s praise after India fightback on Day 3

‘Captained the side really well’ - Nick Knight sings Rohit Sharma’s praise after India fightback on Day 3

Former England opener Nick Knight was full of praise for India skipper Rohit Sharma over how he led the hosts against England on Day 3 of the third Test of the ongoing series in Rajkot. England looked to be in control in the early stages of the day, with a score of 207/2.

However, thanks to a sensational bowling attack by India and Rohit’s captaincy, England lost their remaining eight wickets within 95 runs and were bundled out for 319 runs in the first innings.

The same planning and England’s collapse impressed Nick Knight, who lauded the Indian bowling attack and how Rohit led the side to control England’s batters, who looked dangerous at one point of the clash.

“We talked about how Bazball works. We’re now going to talk about how it doesn’t work on odd occasion. I don’t think it was really Bazball. Actually, I think you’ve got to give a lot of credit to the way India bowled, they had a terrific day. I thought Rohit Sharma captained the side really well. We talked about heart, we saw plenty of that from Siraj,” Nick Knight said on the air.

It kind of started from the Root dismissal: Knight

Furthermore, Knight also reflected on where things started going south for England on Day 3 of the Rajkot Test. The former opener believed that England’s downfall on the third day started after Joe Root was dismissed. He also opined that Root’s dismissal was unnecessary as he was caught in the slip cordon trying to play a reverse sweep.

“Where did England go wrong? It kind of started from the from the Root dismissal. I thought England never quite recovered. I thought India got on top of England a little bit, and it became a little tentative. And I thought that dismissal there was all about being a little tentative,” Knight said.
