‘His mindset is like a top-order batter’ – Michael Vaughan heaps praise on Ravindra Jadeja following masterful ton in Rajkot

The Indian team kicked off the third Test of their ongoing series against England in dominant fashion. Both sides faced off at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot from February 15, and after a series of masterful performances by the Indian batting attack, one that stood out was that of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

After some exceptional showings in the top order by Rohit Sharma and Sarfaraz Khan, Ravindra Jadeja treated the fans to a brilliant performance. Scoring 112 runs in 225 deliveries, Jadeja caught the eye of former England cricketer Michael Vaughan.

Speaking of his knock, Vaughan opined that Jadeja was even more patient than the likes of Rohit Sharma and Sarfaraz during his innings. He even heaped praise on his mindset while batting.

“Jadeja’s mindset is like a top-order batter despite him playing at No.7 for the most part of his career. He is willing to do the hard yards, he is willing to see a bowler off, he played more traditional style Test match than Rohit Sharma and Sarfaraz Khan. He was a throwback to how we played Test match cricket. Just bat, bat, and bat, do not give any chances,” Michael Vaughan told Cricbuzz.

Ravindra Jadeja is a class act: Vaughan

Furthermore, Vaughan talked of how there is only one weakness to Jadeja’s batting and even branded him as a class act. It is worth noting that with Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja completing their centuries, and Sarfaraz Khan scoring 62 runs in the first innings, team India found themselves in a comfortable position ahead of Day 2.

“Ravindra Jadeja is a class act. There is only one area of his game where you can challenge him: a yard outside of off stump, fuller length where you can nip it away. Jimmy and Mark Wood tried that through the day. he played and missed a few. On Indian wickets where there is not a lot of zip, I think that he is a very very consistent performer,” Vaughan said.
