Shakib has done it, Naeem has to do it too: Rangana Herath

Herath Mudiyanselage Rangana Keerthi Bandara Herath, known as Rangana Herath, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer, who played all forms of cricket game and a former Test cricket captain for Sri Lanka.

Shakib had previously played Test cricket in the ongoing Sri Lanka Test in December last year. Shakib just practised on Saturday after recovering dramatically from Covid. However, he has just practised batting. Neither did the ball in practice.

Playing Test cricket without any practice is not his norm at all. And after the return from Covid, it is unbelievable. Still, Shakib knows how to surprise. He has surprised everyone many times in his career.

He gave 1 run in the first over, Maiden in the second over. He then bowled over and over again. At the end of the day, his bowling figure was 19-7-27-1. Naeem took two wickets but no one had any doubt that Shakib was the best bowler of the day.

As Bangladesh spin coach and Sri Lankan left-arm spin great Rangana Herath was sure, Shakib would not have a problem without bowling practice. “I was convinced that he would do well without practice,” Herath said. “We don’t get a lot of capable cricketers like him. If you notice, he did the first ball without practice. That’s great. His confidence is so good. He also gives confidence to the whole team. He has bowled well today; he is the most frugal bowler in the team. “

Naeem got wickets in two great deliveries in the first spell. He then started bowling at a great speed. Whose compensation he had to pay by giving a lot of runs. However, another spinner Taizul Islam was different. He was seen bowling at different speeds.

Herath is not unhappy with Taizul’s bowling. However, in the context of Naeem, Herath said, “It depends a lot on the action (slowing down). Shakib can always easily slow down in his action. I have to say about Taizul, he has used the speed variation very well. Naeem needs to understand and learn a little more about the situation of the match and his own role. Then he will improve. But tomorrow there is an opportunity to prove themselves. ”
