Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal was rushed to a local hospital in Agartala after his health deteriorated before his flight to Delhi. As per his manager, the cricketer drank water from a pouch, which was placed before his seat before the incident took place. Soon after that, the 32-year-old complained of stomach pain and a burning sensation in his mouth and throat and vomited in the aircraft before he was taken to the hospital.

He was admitted to the ICU of ILS Hospital, and soon after that, it was reported that the cricketer was stable but would remain in the hospital for timely checkups. Meanwhile, his manager lodged a formal complaint with the police, stating that the cricketer drank ‘poisonous liquid’ on the flight and wanted proper inspection on the matter. Kiran Kumar, SP West Tripura has confirmed the development and explained the entire development while talking to the press.

“Mayank Agarwal, an international cricket player is now stable and his vitals are normal. But his manager has lodged a specific complaint under NCCPS (New Capital Complex Police Station) to investigate the matter,” Kiran was quoted as saying by India Today.

“His manager said that when he was sitting in the airplane, there was a pouch in front of him. He drank a little bit and not much, but suddenly there was irritation in his mouth, and suddenly he couldn’t talk also and was brought to ILS hospital. He had swelling and ulcers in the mouth. Otherwise, his vitals are stable,” he added.

Agarwal will travel to Bengaluru on January 31

After getting discharged from the hospital, the India opener will travel back to his hometown in Bengaluru on January 31. State Health Secretary Kiran Gitte confirmed the development and added that the cricketer will get the best treatment that’s available in the state.

“Police has admitted his complaint and we will investigate as to what happened. As per his manager, he will travel to Bengaluru tomorrow and meanwhile, whatever best treatment is available in Agartala, we will provide him,” Gatte said.

Meanwhile, Agarwal will not be available for Karnataka’s next game against Railways in Surat. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) is in close touch with the cricketer and will take the next step after consulting with the doctors.
