Maxwell scored 37 off 30 balls, and Marcus Stoinis played a stormy inning of 29 off 10 balls, remaining unbeaten. James Bazley and Mark Steketee took 1 wicket each for the Heat.

The Melbourne Stars have moved up to sixth place in the points standings after winning this match. The defeat, on the other side, has dropped Brisbane Heat to seventh place in the points rankings.
