3 reasons why Yashasvi Jaiswal can continue his excellent form in 3rd Test against England

The talented southpaw Yashasvi Jaiswal has made headlines in the first two Tests of the series against England with his phenomenal batting performances. His double century in Visakhapatnam became a major force behind India’s roaring comeback in the series. Now all eyes will be on him when he comes out to bat in Rajkot. In this article, we will take a look at 3 reasons why Yashasvi Jaiswal can continue his excellent form in the next Test.

1. There is only one James Anderson

In the second innings of the last Test, Yashasvi was troubled by the English veteran James Anderson. Ultimately Yashasvi succumbed to the pressure and gave his wicket to Anderson. However, the good news for the youngster is that he did quite well in the first innings of the Visakhapatnam Test and Anderson was also operating then. This tells us that if the Indian opener can negotiate the fast bowler’s threat, then the run-scoring opportunities are limitless.

2. Inexperienced English spin attack

The seasoned left-arm spinner Jack Leach has been ruled out for the rest of the series which is a huge setback for the visitors. However, this exclusion augurs well for Yashasvi Jaiswal. In the first two Tests, he has shown that the young spin trio of Rehan Ahmed, Tom Hartley, and Shoaib Bashir is not a dangerous prospect for him. He can dominate these spinners which was also evident in the last Test when he scored the double century. This inexperienced English spin department gives a big advantage to Yashasvi going into the next Test.

3. Rajkot’s record

Rajkot as a venue has traditionally been known to assist the batters. The usually flat nature of the pitch in Rajkot can be a big boost for Indian batters, especially for the in-form Yashasvi Jaiswal. The run-scoring groove that the left-hander is in currently makes this Rajkot Test a tough assignment for the English bowlers. If the pitch is as per the expectations, then Yashasvi has a great opportunity to extend his brilliant form.
