RAR vs KINGS (37th Match) – Highlights

In this article, we will discuss the thrilling encounter between RAR and KINGS in the 37th match of the Bangladesh Premier League 2025 for RAR vs KINGS, held in Mirpur on January 29. Chittagong Kings emerged victorious with a commanding five-wicket win, successfully chasing down the 144-run target with 14 balls to spare. Despite Rangpur Riders’ steady effort with the bat, Chittagong’s well-paced chase ensured they secured an important victory in the tournament. Let’s dive into the key highlights, standout performances, and turning points of this exciting contest.

RAR had a rough start after being put in to bat. Steven Taylor had a nightmare outing, getting dismissed for a duck off seven balls by Shoriful Islam, setting the tone for a shaky start. Saif Hassan followed soon after, managing just 8 off 8 balls before being caught behind off Khaled Ahmed. Soumya Sarkar looked in good touch, scoring a brisk 23 off 17 balls with two fours and a six, but his promising knock was cut short due to a run-out, leaving Rangpur at 37/3 inside six overs.

The middle order struggled to accelerate as captain Nurul Hasan labored to 9 off 21 balls before falling to Khaled Ahmed. At 61/4 in the 12th over, Rangpur was in deep trouble. However, Iftikhar Ahmed stood firm, playing an anchor role while counterattacking when needed. He played a brilliant knock of 65* off 47 balls, smashing seven fours and three sixes, providing some much-needed stability. He found support from Mahedi Hasan, who chipped in with an unbeaten 22 off 20 balls.

Despite their partnership, Rangpur Riders could only reach 143/5 in their 20 overs, a below-par total on a decent batting track. The Chittagong Kings’ bowlers kept the pressure on, with Khaled Ahmed picking up two wickets for 44 runs. Shoriful Islam and Shamim Hossain chipped in with a wicket each, while Binura Fernando and Al Islam kept things tight, conceding only 15 and 14 runs respectively in their four-over spells.

KINGS started their chase cautiously, losing Lahiru Milantha early for 6 off 12 balls, courtesy of Akif Javed. Graham Clark added some quick runs with a 12-ball 15 but was dismissed by the same bowler, leaving Chittagong at 29/2. Parvez Hossain Emon played a steady knock, scoring 41 off 43 balls, but struggled to find boundaries consistently. Captain Mohammad Mithun added a valuable 20 off 15 balls before falling to Mohammad Saifuddin.

With 81 runs still needed off 41 balls, Haider Ali turned the game on its head with an electrifying innings. He smashed a whirlwind 48* off just 18 balls, including six sixes and a four, maintaining an astonishing strike rate of 266.66. His power-hitting completely took the game away from Rangpur as Chittagong raced towards victory. Shamim Hossain played a cameo, scoring 8 off 2 balls before being run out, while Rahatul Ferdous remained unbeaten on 6.

Chittagong Kings reached 148/5 in just 17.4 overs, winning the match comfortably. Akif Javed and Mohammad Saifuddin picked up two wickets each, but Rangpur’s bowlers had no answer to Haider Ali’s brutal hitting. The win further strengthened Chittagong’s position in the tournament, while Rangpur was left to reflect on their batting struggles.
